Cereus forbesii Spiralis Often known as the Twisted Cactus – and you’ll see instantly why – the Cereus Forbesii Spiralis is a welcome addition to any plant collection.
Looking for a cool, funky, alien vibe? How about a Spiralled Cereus cactus. The blue-green colour and spiralling, columnar form is out of this world and very easy to look after.
Younger plants begin life with straight ribs that twist at about 10cm. The ribs are covered in spines which can be variable in length. Flowers are pink or white, with long delicate petals.
Also sometimes known as Cereus peruvianous tortulosus, with common names including Twisted Cereus and Contorted Cereus.
Light: Prefers bright light and is happy with some direct sunlight once established, however too much direct sun may cause scorching.
Water: Water when the soil begins to dry out. Drought tolerant. Do not over-water.
Temperature: Average household temperatures 16-24°C. Can tolerate low temperatures but preferably keep above 8°C.
Feed: Feed during the summer months.
Height and Growth Rate: Ultimate height is 2-3m. Fast growing.
Toxicity: Not considered toxic however the spines are sharp so handle with care.
Origin: Cultivar. Cereus forbesii is native to South America.
